Kia America topped Strategic Vision’s 2022 Total Quality Impact Awards with four models that each won their respective segments. The Kia K5 (Mid-Size Car), Seltos (Entry CUV), Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (Alternative Power Train - Utility), and Carnival (Minivan) were reported to have the fewest problems in the TQI report while all models were lauded for enhanced quality in seat comfort, power, and driver-assist features.

Kia America and Hyundai Motor America Resolve Engine Litigation

Kia America and Hyundai Motor America have entered into an agreement to resolve class action litigation with owners of certain vehicles equipped with Theta II multi-port fuel injection (“MPI”) engines, Nu gasoline direct injection (“GDI”) engines, and Gamma GDI engines. This agreement will provide various cash compensation options, extended warranties, free inspection and repair of the covered engines for certain qualifying repairs, and installation of a software update Kia and Hyundai introduced to enhance safety and detection of potential engine failure.

KIA AMERICA POSTS BEST-EVER AUGUST SALES

Kia America announced best-ever August sales of 66,089 units, marking a 22-percent increase year-over-year. Kia’s SUVs continue to shine with the Sportage as Kia’s top-selling model for the fifth consecutive month with 12,986 units sold, representing a 59-percent increase year-over-year. Sales of the Sorento SUV increased by 114-percent year-over-year; and sales of the current generation Telluride continued strong increasing 18-percent year-over-year and just months before the highly anticipated 2023 version arrives in dealers. In addition, August sales of Kia’s all-electric and hybrid models increased an astonishing 151-percent year-over-year.

KIA AMERICA ANNOUNCES JULY SALES

Led by the all-new Sportage SUV, Kia America today announced overall July sales of 62,449 units. Available in gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains, the Sportage SUV posted record July sales of 11,985 units and continued its four-month run of selling more than 10,000 units per month. Sales of the Sorento SUV, which is also available in gas, HEV and PHEV configurations, increased 65-percent year-over-year. Overall, sales of Kia’s electric and hybrid models increased 86-percent year-over-year.

Kia America today announced June sales of 65,142 units, an increase of 12-percent month-over-month. The all-new Sportage SUV posted all-time record monthly sales total of 14,153 units. June also marked the third consecutive month that sales of the Sportage SUV exceeded 10,000 units contributing to record high SUV ratio of overall sales of 71-percent. Kia America today announced May sales of 57,941 units with the Niro family of hybrid, PHEV and EV models posting best-ever May sales, up more than 28-percent over the previous record set in 2021. Kia America today announced February sales of 49,182 units, up 2.3-percent over February 2021. Monthly highlights include sales of Kia’s EV models marking their best-ever monthly performance and shattering the previous record set in September 2021 by 181-percent. In addition, sales of the Niro line of electrified crossovers saw a 40-percent increase over the model line’s best-ever February sales total set in 2017.
